The letters of the alphabet can be put in 4 groups. Here are the first 13:
1: AM
2: BCDEK
3: FGJL
4: HI
No cheating.

Well, when you said it was better in capitals I understood it would be based on shapes, so:
- each letter from the first group can be divided vertically and mirrored (not sure how to explain: basically the shape on the left is a mirror of the shape on the right)
- each letter from the second group works the same but horizontally -> that one was especially difficult for me to find out as I somehow see more easily a vertical mirroring
- i guess there is no rule appliable to the group 3, it's just "all the rest"
- each letter from the fourth group can be divided vertically AND horizontally
Voila ;)
