The post is wrong about Instagram reverting to its old ToS, though. If anything, the updated language gives it even more power to license user contributions in conjunction with advertising.

Instagram disputes the claim of the original article. I don't think there is enough publicly available data to say for sure who is right.

I am very doubtful of this. Of all the people I know who use instagram (granted not a huge sample size), most of them were up in arms about it for about 24 hours but didn't seem to care enough to stop posting pictures regularly. I don't see how this is different than the bi-annual "new facebook" that swaths of peopl say they are going to quit over but then forget about in due time.
