My sister went to Notre Dame, which, being expensive and religious has its fair share of war hawks. She was telling me that when Osama bin Laden was killed, people at school were running around with American flags, cheering. So strange, it's like some people have a completely mutated concept of death.
Great demonstratum, quoderat. Like the Last Roll Call is the Missing Man Formation. I have attended one of these, and it was a surprisingly emotional event.
I had never heard about "last roll call" before, thank you for introducing me. Sounds like a heart wrenchingly effective way to honor the dead by "emphasizes their absence". I had/have similar feelings regarding the Bin Ladin assassination. I find it hard to celebrate killing but I like the author (you?), I understand the rabid dog analogy.
Thanks for the comment. I am the author -- been reading Hubski for a long time as a lurker, and I finally wrote something decent enough to post (I think) so I signed up. Great community here. I've been out of the military a while now, so I missed what happened after 9/11 -- thought of joining back up after that, but on balance glad I did not.
Nice work quoderat, I look forward to reading more of it. Glad you're a part of the community here, I agree... it's a good one!
