-I've used Reddit but I haven't used Tumblr so I suppose I'm supporting the argument (I'm male).
I liked the analogy between the two sites: "..if you roll a die once, every number 1 through 6 is equally likely (this is how Tumblr works). But if you roll a die 10 times and average the results and present that as your final number, the result will almost always hover around 3 and 4 (this is how Reddit works)". -I think I'll stick with an aggregator that allows me to choose which numbers are even on the die. For example, I liked this post and I liked your post about the evolution of the female orgasm. -You just made the "die".
The analogy should have been "if you roll two dice once, each is equally likely to be one through six. But if you roll two dice together, the more times you roll them the more likely they are to average around seven."
Rolling 1 die a bajillion times will not result in a peak around 3 or 4. (plowing through The Drunkard's Walk; statistical errors are a pet peeve at the moment)

Mathematical averages are NOT the same thing as statistical modes.
Statistics is NOT algebra. Here there be math:

Just read the description of The Drunkards Walk, it sounds intriguing. Enjoy and thanks for the correction.

Just re-read this comment and realized it didn't read well. By "even" I didn't mean the opposite of "odd" but rather "which numbers placed on the die per my choosing".
