- "See this stuff?" Cuban said on the video, grabbing the display. "It was a scam when they were on 'Shark Tank.' It's still a scam. I don't care if the NBA was dumb enough to sign an agreement; this is going where it belongs."
At that point, Cuban put the display case in a trash can.
Power Balance bracelets have supposedly magic holograms that make you more nimble, have greater flexibility and have less fatigue. They are in fact, completely fake and have been proven many times. Even by the maker of the bands.
Yeah, these things are unbelievably scammy. When I used to run a climbing gym long ago, we had someone come in trying to sell these things. I told her no, but she insisted on proving to me how well they work. I let her do the little demonstration that Mindwolf linked in another comment, and it was fairly easy to pick up on what was going on. I explained to her that I not only thought her product was a complete crock, but that she was even worse for knowingly scamming people with trickery like that. It's unbelievable to me that the same thing a door to door scam artist was doing years ago is now promoted by the NBA.
Are those the ones with the magnets in them? I see them around at kiosks in the mall and just shake my head. I can't believe they actually got a deal with the NBA.
