Great talk. I read Dennett and Hofstadter's The Mind's Eye years ago, and it had an impact upon me. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Minds_I
It's an amazing collection of minds, and a very enjoyable read. I don't mind that I experience less than it appears to me that I do. In that sense we are all artists, brushing together the world as it makes sense to us. I have little doubt that our palette can be strongly influenced by our mental health.
What isn't there doesn't have to be explained. It's just not there.

"what isn't there, can't break". -Great visuals to accompany a great talk. I for one did not see the difference in the photo even after it was shown several times and I knew I was supposed to be looking for it.

The visuals really made a great combination with the talk. There are many interesting tricks that your brain will play on you, even just to process basic information and sensory input. Derren Brown exploits some of these in some of his more interesting tricks.
