Sounds full on. Glad you're still with us. Hopefully it hasn't ruined your daughter's appreciation for flying. Good friends of mine are heading to Costa Rica this week. Apparently there's a really cool sloth sanctuary.
Holy shit. Glad you’re alright. That would be so scary. Did the tail have visible damage?
Girl stuff continues to be fraught with potential emotional peril and also continues to be now onto the third consecutive insanely fun week. It’s clear that she doesn’t want a relationship at this time and that we kind of skipped dating and went straight into that. The likely outcome will be her continuing to primarily date me, but going on dates with other people (aka taking a step back and into a more “normal” early relationship/dating experience). Anyway. We’re spending New Year’s Eve together. Will be fun. There’s a lot of reasons I’m okay with this. We’ll end up together, I’m pretty sure of it.
Lots of tears tonight. Lots of uncertainty. Lots to learn together. We’ll see. I’m less hopeful.
Christmas was a hoot. Our family descended upon the scorching south, I got a bit of colour on my skin and drank a few beers with my cousins. Boxing day we went from a sleepy little town called Te Anau, and drove north to Milford Sound. Gorgeous views. It reminded me of what is at my backdoor if I choose to forget about work for a while. Back home now, and while I loved seeing my family, I can now unwind on my own terms. Here's the view from my backyard (I have three yards, front, middle and back.) That rhubarb has uhhh... Gone to seed. A few times. There's so much space up here it's almost overwhelming, but plans have started at least. 2023 Goals: Gym = 100kg Overhead Press Home = Greenhouse installed and renovation on the bathroom begun Hobbies = Finish at least one of my writing projects Reading = I read about 40 books this year, and while I don't like tacking a numerical goal to reading, I'll aim for more this year. Not like, "I must read this many" but, as a way to keep me looking for new things to read. Work = Fuck knows, but July 2023 will see me get a noticeable pay increase, so I'll stick it out and try to foster good relationships
Worst. Christmas. Ever. Spent it on my couch with a 102 fever sweating through a sweatshirt and a thick blanket, vomiting every couple hours until I wanted to kill myself. Crazy virus that ripped through our house save for my youngest son. On the plus side, I got a giant promotion today, because life isn't fair and there's no logic to it; there's just a self-congratulatory boys club that I'm really good at being a part of.
Summer in Melbourne. The weather is perfect, the cricket coverage is entertaining, and I've still got another week and a half of rest ahead of me before I head back to (what is actually an excellent place to) work. Happy New Year, Hubski.
I know close to nothing about Israeli politics, but I’m basing that primarily on the fact that some of the staunchest Israel allies in the American press are suddenly like ‘lol wut?’ Israel can afford a lot but what it can’t afford is losing broad bipartisan American support.
