My wife is a big fan of The Angels. She fell in love with them in a round about way. I told her there was a team in The Minors called “The Trash Pandas” and she immediately decided to follow them last year on their name alone. They’re a farm team for The Angels, so naturally, when some of their players, such as Reid Detmers started getting call ups, she started paying attention to The Angels too.
Funny story about The Trash Pandas, 2020 was supposed to be their debut season, but all of MiLB was canceled due to The Pandrmic. They made tshirts about it that said “2020, Just Tradh It.”
She loves Detmers (who I don’t care one way or the other about, but I find him fascinating to watch cause he has absolutely NO poker face) and Trout and of Course Shohei. Who doesn’t love Shohei? He’s amazing, is literally breaking records over and over again, and he’s so animated he’s fun to watch. I think he’s be a mid their player, and we’d still watch him just for his personality. There are tons of gifs of him out there, check some out, you’ll see what I mean.
I started following The Rangers this year, because they made some aggressive trades to get Corey Seager and Marcus Semian and I wanted to see how things would play out for them. Those two? They’re alright. But I’ve absolutely fallen in love with other players, Heim and Garcia and Taveras so many others. But what keeps me coming back to watching Rangers games over and over again? C.J. Nitkowski. Thus man, explains baseball so well, from breaking down how at bats are playing out for pitchers and hitters and what they’re looking for, to ball physics, to so many other things. I learn so much from listening to him explain things. I’d honestly recommend people watch Rangers games just to hear what he has to say.
As an aside, I’ve similarly heard that The Reds’ very own Votto has been a guest commentator since he’s out on injury for the rest of the season, and people are in love with him. If he’s half as good as people say, I hope he pursues broadcasting in the future.
Anyhow, we’re gonna watch tonight’s game and we were debating which broadcast to go with and reached a good compromise. We’re gonna start out with The Rangers broadcast until I inevitably turn in for bed early tonight, and after, she’s gonna turn it on to The Angels broadcast instead. Besides, the best things by about watching two teams you live play each other? No matter who wins, you turn the TV off happy.
Heim is playing tonight. I’m happy. Top five favorite player of mine there.
After the top of The Fifth, I’m calling it a night. The game is 0-1, and it could go one of two ways. It could either stay a low scoring game the rest of the night, or, when the bullpens take over, the baseball field erupts in utter chaos (both teams have bullpens that struggle). Either outcome sounds like fun.
