Poor sods. There's been one of those stranded at the back of liquid helium facility for years, rusted so thoroughly the plateless bumpers fell off during a storm. The windows were surprisingly clean, but there was nothing identifiable on or in it, and I doubt anyone remembered whose it was. Long-abandoned cars were a bigger problem 2-3 years ago than they are now in Warsaw, but IIRC, that particular one was still there when I graduated. That's close to sum total of my knowledge of Moskviches.
The whole article is kind of breathtaking. I knew all this in theory but the specific in-practice examples are something else. I needed bearings just the other day. Basic-bitch ball bearings for a machine built 30 years ago. My choices were American, Swedish, German, Chinese or Korean. If you're in Russia? Your choices are "Chinese." I myself paid a 40% premium to not have Chinese because Chinese machine parts are fucking garbage.
