It’s a bit higher but not a lot higher. Not even double dispite the low vax numbers comparatively. If anything it shows that what we’re doing in blue areas isn’t all that effective. Either because we’re not that good at following protocol or because of other factors that need to be considered.

To second order: There are probably more old people in Trumpland, and maybe the medical care is of poorer quality? I also suspect that if you were able to correct for the higher population density and corresponding lifestyle, perhaps most notably the use of public transport, that would overwhelm the "second order" effects.
