Should be illegal. I've considered just calling Amex and asking if they can just stop paying on my behalf.
Depends on which one you get. Some generate a new CC# for each transaction. Others just let you use enter a CC number that ISN'T the one on your card, but is associated with that card on the back end server. So you aren't entering your REAL CC number online.
One of the advantages of having a debit card that gets phished regularly is I end up changing numbers every nine-12 months. Means I just sorta go "oh, did I not update that number? darn it" and shit goes away. the NYT? I made the effort. I told 'em "you know what?
