NYT has made it so fucking hard to cancel. I'm still on the hook, because you now have to call and talk to someone...wait on hold only to have a spiel about how great being an NYT subscriber is. Should be illegal. I've considered just calling Amex and asking if they can just stop paying on my behalf.

In the future get a card that allows for virtual credit cards to be generated. I have a capitol one card that allows for unlimited vcc that pays 1.5% and paid me 250 to sign up. Highly recommend

So how does a virtual card work? You can just cancel them what you feel like it?

Yeah it’s linked to to your real card but it can be turned off at any time and valid at only one merchant. I use it and a catch all to create unlimited Spotify trials

Depends on which one you get. Some generate a new CC# for each transaction. Others just let you use enter a CC number that ISN'T the one on your card, but is associated with that card on the back end server. So you aren't entering your REAL CC number online.

One of the advantages of having a debit card that gets phished regularly is I end up changing numbers every nine-12 months.

Means I just sorta go "oh, did I not update that number? darn it" and shit goes away.

the NYT? I made the effort. I told 'em "you know what? This whole series you ran on how Gen X is actually to blame for everything that's wrong with the world? You can fuck right off with that shit" and that was that. When they got uppity I said "I was willing to forgive you Judith Miller and Jayson Blair but Bret Stephens put me on edge and this shit is too much eat a dick."
