So, we have Magnus Carlsen and Hikaru Nakamura playing a game of competitive speed chess in the Magnus Carlsen Invitational. Both of them know they're moving onto the next match irregardless of outcome, so the game doesn't really matter. Nakamura will occasionally play an opening referred to at The Bongcloud Attack in speed chess games online for fun. To put it simply, this opening is absolutely horrible and actively restricts the early game. It's a meme in the wonderful world of chess. So in this game that has absolutely no meaning, Carlsen, white, opens with the Bongcloud, and Nakamura just starts laughing really hard, then decides to play it back. So Carlsen backs out and as does Nakamura, and the game can commence. Except Carlsen goes right back in the position and Nakamura matches, laughing harder now. So both back out, and it's Carlsen's turn again. He goes right back in and of course Nakamura matches, forcing a draw after repeat of three of the same moves. Total match time about 35 seconds. It was a beautiful thing. Some people are calling it "The Bongcloud Attack - Hotbox Variant"
Y'all should go enjoy a video of it.
