And not only that, but arresting the QAnon Congresspeople increases the likelihood of violence on inauguration day.

I'd like them out of office ASAP, naturally, but there are some solid reasons why it can wait another week.

Dude there's a non-negligible possibility that Congress will convene and have to roll with some non-negligible number of congresspersons being arrested and replaced by their governors. Can you imagine how batshit the Right would be after that?

Exactly.

I think the overarching Trump story is probably:

There isn't a chance that the FBI and others weren't aware of what was planned for the 6th. They told, or at least tried to tell, Donald Trump. Trump Jr. probably independently confirmed the same thing anyway to Trump from his social media content and allies. Trump probably gauged it himself. Obviously, they both fueled it, along with many others, to varying degrees. So instead of responding remotely appropriately to intel like "Sir, this is a viable insurrection candidate event, sir", Trump quashed the intel, decided to give the most incendiary speech of his career so far(!) immediately before the insurrection attempt he knew full well about, and somehow neutered any boots-on-the-ground response, which, a-duh, is basically the only meaningful counter against a political movement rapidly careening towards murdering members of Congress. All based on Trump's election lies. LOL, you only get to play that hand once. He's fucked. No chance of avoiding jail time for life, and I don't think the courts are going to waste much time with his procedural stalling bullshit anymore. I predict that he'll be in prison by July 4th, 2022. The DoJ may not take long to build an airtight case, but decide to wait to charge him while they diffuse networks of pro-Trump domestic terrorists, again, so as not to inflame them. The charges against Trump will include sedition and inciting sedition, conspiracy to commit sedition, seditionpalooza, etc.

I think that the 17th through the 22nd will have some isolated TrumpTerror flare ups, and law enforcement and national guard will probably intercept some folks attempting to ransack state capitols (but prolly not all 50) and some other folks trying to converge on DC. They'll target leadership. Dunno how long it'll take for the insurrection fantasy and terror acts to completely die out. Maybe all year. Many of these people still expect Trump to stay in the White House. For some, their disillusionment hasn't even begun.

Also, there's no way that the FBI et al. aren't all over Telegram, Signal, and the other new networks.

More simply put, a man who has avoided consequences his entire life may face them.

I'm hopeful that a movement that has avoided consequences since the Civil War will experience something similar.

It appears that the overwhelming majority of military and law enforcement professionals take their oaths seriously. For that I am deeply grateful.
