We've changed our language from "you will hear from the health department if you're positive" to "you may hear from the health department if you're positive" because we have so many cases and are that backed up. We closed out 1200 cases last week, and gained 2700.
I'm surprised it took this long. Our contact tracing went to 'tracing-light' in August after the first minor bump in the road. It nope'd out due to further incompetence a month later. From 8 hours full investigations, to now 10-minute convo's that only ask a handful of obvious questions, because it was only a few dozen people doing the job. They're only now scaling it actually up. Over 2k per 100k is entirely different levels of abysmal, though, Jesus. It's gonna be a rough end of the year.
Its not all doom and gloom. Cases seem to be leveling off in the US. Though I think thanksgiving might send things into a tailspin due to poor government policy. https://www.nakedcapitalism.com/2020/11/200pm-water-cooler-11-23-2020.html
