Good I hope he dies. That would get us out of the election conundrum, at least. No way anyone is supporting a Mike pence coup.
Really? Even for Trump that is hard to believe, can especially given how maybe people around him game had it. It seemed like only a matter of time. I think we'll find out if it's a lie. No one in the administration can keep their mouths shut. I very rarely wish harm to anyone, but I actually think Trump dying would be good for the country, so I'm hoping he does have it. He fits the demographic of someone who wouldn't do well.
Lies don’t matter anymore. Even when they’re glaring like a giant pile of shit in the sun. His supporters will gleefully step right in it. And if repeated enough times, “I had it and it was no problem.” People believe it. I’m cynical but why shouldn’t I be?
I was thinking the opposite this afternoon, and that Trump dying could be the ultimate black swan. What if he did, and suddenly all of the real Republicans holding their nose or refusing to vote Trump suddenly had no problem rushing back into the fold to elect a traditional conservative, while conservative independents no longer tilted in as large numbers to Biden. No way anyone is supporting a Mike pence coup.
They just published a story about that in the times today. tl;dr is basically it's up to the States to send whatever elector they want, and then it's up to congress to certify the electors. There problem is that only a handful of states have laws that spell out who the electors should vote for of the candidate is dead or otherwise unable to serve. But other states have clear laws that the electors have to vote for the candidate who won the popular vote on the state, with no exceptions. So essentially nobody has any clue how to proceed.
