This is making it harder and harder to not get my hopes up.
Blade Runner 2049 soundtrack set to recent drone footage from San Fran:
I had seen some pictures from the area (including some BR2049 references), but that's just eerie. Strangely beautiful, though.
Impressions from someone who almost has the book memorized: 1. The casting was every bit as good as I'd hoped. 2. It looks like they may keep Idaho alive longer. Beast Rabban may have a larger role. 3. I really like the way they're making Paul's "terrible purpose" clearer. I think for a movie adaptation that's a super good idea, and to me bodes well for how they handle the story. 4. That said, the bit at the end suggesting Paul can control the sandworms is ... oof. I hope that's either a dream or just done for visuals. 5. The tiny bit of fight scene between Paul and Gurney was appropriately bad ass. 6. It's interesting what they didn't show. Almost nothing of the Baron (but the little bit I saw fits with #1 above), nothing whatsoever of Stilgar or Thufir Hawat that I noticed. Some of that may also be the result of splitting the first book into two movies. 7. The visual design nails it.
"Remarkable" probably not, but he fits for beginning-of-the-book Paul just fine.
I don't want to watch the trailer because I never read the book. My "official" name is "Muad" (or rather Mu3ath) and I have had multiple people refer to me as Muad'Dib, assuming I knew what they were talking about. At some point, I found out it is some character from Dune. Since then I wanted to read it but never managed. Seeing you all getting so hyper about the tailer suggests that probably all of hubski are Dune fanboys. And when Hubski agrees on something, that has to be hella good. Apart from knowing that it is sci-fi, and playing Empror battle for Dune when I was young (making the connection later), knowing about huuuuge worms and a desert, I know nothing. See you after reading it. Please don't spoiler me!
I'm glad we've (indirectly) convinced you, and I hope you enjoy it as much as we do!
I showed it to my wife the other day, who's never read the books (at least not all the way through), but her reaction was similar.
For the company, I'm sure it's the hope that it will be profitable. For the director:...a longstanding dream of mine is to adapt Dune.
My wife tried to get me to watch this trailer earlier today, and I refused. That's how excited I am. If a movie is directed by Denis, I will watch that movie.
