It's scary how much these 50-year-old words are still relevant today. For a split second, I imagined a (now young) Palestinian activist sitting at some show in 50 or 100 years, repeating those same words to a center/left talk show host from Tel Aviv. And the host looking completely puzzled as this guy did.
It is remarkable how relevant this still is. Remarkable and unfortunate. Also, it still hits very hard. I give Dick Cavett a lot of credit here in that what Baldwin is saying was far more controversial back then. Many hosts of the day wouldn’t even allow for this conversation. I’ve always liked Dick Cavett. I saw the premiere of “Cavett and Ali the tale of the tapes.“ At SXSW. He and Muhammad Ali were very good friends. It’s worth watching.
Yes, that’s who invited me to the screening. Afterwards, later that night Bay called me up and invited me to a party at Willie Nelson‘s recording studio. It was fucking amazing! I debated whether or not we should Terraform Mars with James Marsden, the guy from Westworld. Wild night. lasted a loooong time.
