I'm old enough, as you are, to remember Biden from over a decade ago. He was still flubbing sentences and putting his foot in his mouth then. I've watched him of late in interviews and I think he's fine. Is he old? Yes. Does he seem to have dementia, Alzheimers or even severe cognitive decline? I don't see that. Anyone at his age will not have the same jump in their step that they did at 50 or even 60, but I'm convinced that the presidency is about surrounding yourself with capable people and having the ability to be deliberative. I think Biden will do that and have that. I am still holding out for Yang 2024 though :) But down with Trump. This galvanized my disdain (as if it needed it): https://www.npr.org/sections/live-updates-protests-for-racial-justice/2020/06/28/884392576/trump-retweets-video-of-apparent-supporter-saying-white-power
I called it when he announced. He went down that escalator and started calling Mexicans rapists and I knew the populace would eat it up. They are still eating it up. Despite the polling and now, Biden’s fundraising I still think Trump is as likely to win as Biden. It will be close. I can’t stand Trump but I see Trump signs all over and I see zero Biden. I think his delusional supporters are fanatical. I just drove from MI to NC and trump has a lot of support.
Hopefully the Biden people will just hammer the fuck out of that "I don't take responsibility at all" quote. I've seen a few iterations of commercials that show death totals and other scenes of mayhem then cut to Trump saying that. I can't remember a more devastating political ad. I hope that at the very least it tempers the enthusiasm of the Trump fence sitters. There's no electoral math where he can win with just the hard core types. My in-laws have never voted for Democrats in any recent memory, and they're both voting Biden.
