We don't just vote for President November 3rd. We also vote for Senate seats, House seats, governorships, state representatives, dog catchers, comptrollers, insurance commissioners, etc. And while Trump may be the monolithic leader of the Republican Party, his monolithic nature has not been beneficial to anyone downticket. I mean, Mitch McConnell is trailing right now. So not only does Trump need to disregard any electoral results, the people backing Trump need to go "you know, I have a better future if I side with the embattled, entrenched incumbents rather than sniping at the illegitimate Democratic President." And this week, if nothing else, we saw that there are lines that even the most craven of Republicans won't cross.
