Looks like I'm going to be posting just about anything that pops up on Psyche.
This article deals with how we react to absurdity or surrealism. Turns out our reaction is neurologically very close to pain, and painkillers can change how you react to absurdity (which I thought was pretty mind-blowing).
I found it especially interesting because I've been a big fan of surrealism for a while. I really don't quite know what it is that appeals to me in it, and this article left me wondering if people who like surrealism react to absurdity in the "middle of the curve" way of needing more structure elsewhere in their life, or do they have a markedly different reaction to it.
