I am 45 years old, and my RC car is no less fun. It has been dormant for about 27 years.

My daughter and I are souping up her little Nikko RC buggy. I used a frequency app to determine that her current motor runs at about 8000rpm, and ordered her one that is 25000rpm. Let's hope the gears can handle it. We also gave it a custom paint job.

It's been one respite to all-day Zoom calls.

Ha I bought a 1/18 on eBay the other day waiting for mine to arrive. That being said for 60$ you can get a wltoys 959 get 2 and you can race. Or for 80-100 a wl 14401 is a great deal. After that you are looking at $200 and $300 price points

Mine is a Tamiya Frog. I got it for X-mas long ago. I was a bit surprised that I could get it to work. The manual speed controller is very finicky, however, and I took the plunge and ordered an ESC. I think it arrives tomorrow.

Apparently that car was resurrected last year and you can buy parts and a brand new one if you want to.

Parts are great. I'm happy with my old one, which I've decided to continue to mod. I added some custom front shock mounts last night. I'm going to add dampers on the front end. It's one of the Frog's weaknesses.

I used to race the nitro RC cars back in the day with my dad. There was a big dirt track not too far away. They can be a blast.

shocked

You're still here with us. :)

That's awesome, though. My friend and I failed several times to make a rocket propelled boat. Model rocket engines have too much thrust.

RC really is great. I'm considering looking for a club. I want to race it.

Well now covid so they are probably shut down or on the way to bankruptcy. I do wonder what it’s like to race in a club environment seems like everyone into it has a 800-$1500 car and is super hardcore about it. Honestly I think it would me more fun to race low end cars with kids and adults from the neighborhood.

I have a friend who races in a club. One of the main tracks is walking distance away.

He routinely sinks more in a weekend than I would going out to the track with the Porsche club.

Wait where is this that there is a race course in n Seattle. My googling found nothing

Oh that place... yeah I can see why the amount of money spent there is extreme. I figured I was too poor to even go there, it didn’t seem at all accessible.

That is probably true. However, I'd love to race my old Frog against them nonetheless. It'd be interesting to see if I could keep up at all. I assume most tracks have casual scrambler races as well.
