Someone on HN pointed out the following from Twitter's TOS: That would be hilarious."We start from a position of assuming that people do not intend to violate our Rules. Unless a violation is so egregious that we must immediately suspend an account, we first try to educate people about our Rules and give them a chance to correct their behavior. We show the violator the offending Tweet(s), explain which Rule was broken, and require them to remove the content before they can Tweet again. If someone repeatedly violates our Rules then our enforcement actions become stronger. This includes requiring violators to remove the Tweet(s) and taking additional actions like verifying account ownership and/or temporarily limiting their ability to Tweet for a set period of time. If someone continues to violate Rules beyond that point then their account may be permanently suspended."
I'm stocked on popcorn, maybe I can throw in a stick of butter to meltdown with society. But really, if Trump is trying to make social media companies more responsible for the user-submitted content that they host... Trump's submitted content is gonna be some of the first to get taken down. Dorsey is gonna pwn this guy. mk is right, mods always win. mk is right. mods always win. mk is right.
(jokes obv mk, we love u man)He gazed up at the enormous circledot. Forty years it had taken him to learn what kind of smile was hidden beneath the golden badge. O cruel, needless misunderstanding! O stubborn, self-willed exile from the loving breast! Two gin-scented tears trickled down the sides of his nose. But it was all right, everything was all right, the struggle was finished. He had won the victory over himself. He loved mk.
That the stocks have since contracted by a few percentage points is pathetic.
There is evidence that by design, these networks serve up and reward strife. I don't think they should be shut down. However, I do think that selling user data and tracking users across sites should be banned. These are models where we pay through engagement. This is a public health issue. These platforms are being employed for mass deception and division. I believe that the best way to fix this is to remove the economic incentive to host and promote these types of behaviors.
Yeah I had a similar reaction. It's like watching two people you hate finally turn on each other. Hard not to start up a chorus of "FIGHT! FIGHT! FIGHT! FIGHT!" Can someone overdub the "Morpheus is fightin' Neo!" scene with "Trump" & "Twitter"?
Oh, oh dear. No, Trump and Dorsey don’t map to Matrix characters, I’m so sorry. I gotta be more careful. I will no longer intentionally transcribe useless personal memes.
This use of the sentiment is of the rarer breed. Usually, the qualifier “only a few percentage points” is applied.
Not only does the warning not embed, but “removed” tweets are not removed at all when embedded. In fact, only in Trump’s twitter page does the flagged content not appear. If you link to the tweet, the content is there, but with a warning. Embed = content, no warning. This is probably Dorsey trying to figure out what to do. Maybe the world's first "mercy ban".
Same here, it’s not just your setup. Can someone report back whether or not it shows up in the Twitter app? Twitter’s refusal to take down Trump’s bullshit conspiracy theories/deflections deeply undermines any incremental progress. Edit: Strong Donny has already counterpunched!. If you don't think this guy is gonna refuse to leave office if voted out or after completing a 2nd term (lord help us), then you're nuts. Never has a president undermined American electoral integrity to anywhere near this degree. The warning doesn’t appear on the embedded tweet apparently.
