I heard this quote over the weekend, and had to dig it up to share. It's semantics - but it struck a chord with me.
- I think we should begin by reframing what we’re doing right now. “Social distancing” was the wrong term to begin with. We should think of this time as “physical distancing” to emphasize that we can remain socially connected even while being apart. In fact, I encourage all of us to practice “distant socializing.”
Although I'll admit to already being tired of my mother asking me to schedule zoom calls with her...
Anyway - Thanks for being a big part of my distant socializing.
I've been playing games with some friends via zoom. This Friday I have a skittles tournament with my family. We each have skittles boards in our homes and can play remotely. I think it will be a lot of fun. My kids are having play dates with their friends. My daughter has a weekly "baking" play date. Don't worry, they're making cupcakes etc. not smoking weed. I think this new zoom culture could save my company a lot of time/ money moving forward. Eliminating travel for in person meetings by 50%+. Hubski has prepared us all to socialize from a distance. Maybe we are better equipped because of our time spent here than we otherwise would have been?
It's funny. Both my parents live hundreds of miles from me, so we normally only socialize distantly. But lately instead of talking every week or two, we've been talking nearly every day. It's actually bringing us together more, which is a very small silver lining.
