The article doesn't mention that this overturn of the rule of law is being painted as politics by FoxNews, and that CNN, NPR, MSNBC, etc., are mostly taking the bait.
NYTimes wrote a pretty good narrative on the Stone trial developments, but botched the headline. I would've gone with something like "Trump and Barr use DOJ to shield Trump ally". I've long lamented both-sides-ism phrasings like "critics of Trump say that his latest actions could be at least somewhat immoral", because it continuously normalizes Trump's behavior. Trump has knowingly or unknowingly weaponized the media's attempts at professionalism against the people. This is now an all-out sprint towards absolute power, and that almost certainly includes cheating and/or ignoring the election results. It's likely already over. We've entered the age of the Trump monarchy. I sound fucking crazy! There's no need for some Yale prof to reinforce my paranoia, because I can actually do that all by myself with objective facts surrounding Trump and the GOP's behavior on an ongoing basis. Sorry, Schiff, right doesn't matter anymore. Only Donald winning. This will end poorly for America. Let's hope it's only America. So far, I've avoided venturing too far down this particular avenue of prediction, gotta go
The important thing is that Trump’s politics are no longer confused with his anti-democratic actions. Trump blocked witnesses, ignored subpoenas, and fired witnesses that obeyed subpoenas. He invited foreign interference in our elections. He used the DOJ to interfere in the trial of a convicted friend. It is key that people are brought to understand that while half of the country does not like Trump’s politics, the entire country should dislike his attacks upon our democratic system of government.
TOTALLY disproven, because Bill Barr said in an interview with ABC news that Trump "has never asked me to do anything in a criminal case", and he then criticized Trump's tweets. Might as well say, "Look, Don, can't we do the crimes more quietly?". The interview was probably an exercise in Barr gauging how much credibility and play he still has left in the various media outlets. Because, baybeh, Barr's gonna go on an "election investigations" media tour this summer and fall, in all likelihood. "The DOJ is currently investigating rumors that Senator Sanders possesses a micropenis. We wish him well at the polls tomorrow." But it'll somehow be worse than that.He used the DOJ to interfere in the trial of a convicted friend.
