Nothing like my upcoming cataract surgery to push back some darkness. What are cararacts like?
Left Eye
If any of you have been downwind from forest fires (places in California, British Columbia, Australia, all over sadly), you know how the sky gets hazy for days. You don't actually see the sky, just the grey haze. That's my left eye.
Right Eye
My right eye is like seeing through glasses that are dirty and smudged, but it's not my glasses.
Also, sunlight and other light refracts in unexpected ways and can be blinding in unexpected ways. All in all, life can go on, but I know I'm not seeing clearly.
So I'm scheduled for surgery on January 7.
Lucky me.
Cost:
$300.00 for an optional extra measurement
$70 X 2 for intraocular lens
not everything is covered in Canada, but almost everything.
Apparently, some folks gain the ability to see a bit further into the UV range of light after cataracts correctional surgery. You might notice that purples are brighter and more intense than before. Think of this as gaining a superpower :).
Best of luck. My mother just had successful cataract surgery. I should inquire about the costs. I have the variant for macular degeneration. I just started taking lutein. I need to do more research into its effectiveness. Blindness would be a uniquely sad thing for me. Unrelated, in the last two years, I’ve lost my ability to focus on objects close to my face. That came fast. What the hell is it in middle age that makes your lenses freeze up?
