One thing David misses is that the dems don't want to be caught holding House-controlled impeachment hearings or inquiries in an election year. Never happened before, and then the dems subject themselves to POTUS tweetstorms of election tampering allegations (while he probably attempts election tampering at least once more).

Four predictions: 1) The House will wrap up the inquiry and force a vote by the end of the year. 2) The House will vote to convict (hey, I'm def. 1/4, at least). 3) The Senate will then vote to acquit 4) within one to 2.5 months of new year's day (around the ides of March).

I generally agree with both of them near the end, starting @9:30-ish, but especially when Shields talks about being in awe of the state department employee testimonies provided in the open hearings. Word.

It kinda got maybe too warm and fuzzy at the very end, but this interview was the first time I'd seen footage of Brooks. He's got almost the exact level of soft-spokenness I'd have guessed, but I like him more than I did yesterday. Turns out he's a human too, not just a NYT op-ed visage icon. PBS is a nice place though, that's not in question.

Where's [impeachment] heading and who will it ultimately benefit?

For anything relating to the 2020 elections, or even several years beyond, no one can know. In the history books, I wholeheartedly believe that the dems will be characterized during this era as genuinely trying to defend the constitutional system of checks and balances.

Try to decompress in the next few months, everyone, because America needs you especially sharp sometime in the early summer through at least one week into November of 2020.
