Ha, we tried watching Evolution a few months back and could barely get 15 minutes in before we gave up. On an unrelated note, I did watch Gamera, the Invincible on Amazon, the first classic Kaiju film I've seen since ages. It was a bit fun to prod at for the FX and oddities.
It's such a shame too, because the set design and special effects for this movie really were a treat. If only they were used for a better overall film. That said, it does make me reminiscent for both Men in Black and Starship Troopers, so I'm kind of motivated to hunt them down. What did you think of Gamera? I've seen bits and pieces of the Showa Era films when they come on tv, but I've never actually sat down and watched them.
What I saw was apparently the American release which included a bunch of American footage inserted. I don't know how much that impacted the overall product. I don't think I would try to watch it again. I think it'd be a great background filler for doing dishes or something. It's fun for it's kitschiness, but really that's the most I got out of it.
