In their first of three debates, President Obama and Republican challenger Mitt Romney "traded barbs" and stretched some facts, say the nonpartisan watchdogs at PolitiFact.com.
Similarly, the researchers at the Annenberg Public Policy Center's FactCheck.org found examples of truth-stretching by both men.
From an NPR piece I was just reading: Rubber match! So we have had three presidents who debated and lost (Ford, Carter, George H.W. Bush) and three who debated and went on to win (Reagan, Clinton, George W. Bush). The Obama case will be the tiebreaker.
The quality of the falsehoods both tell are telling. Obama's whopper was using a 10 year projection instead of a 1 year (the 5 trillion tax cut). Mitts were cut out of whole cloth. (doubled the deficit, death panels/rationing).
