Hi! I've been lurking for a little bit. Sorry I'm late :) Name: Fletcher Location: Australia Age: 28 Current Preoccupation: bouldering (just started; I'm rubbish), music (playing and listening), languages (Spanish and Indonesian), travel (everywhere) Previous Preoccupations: martial arts, coffee, motorcycles (I guess kinda still a current preoccupation) Nice to meet you, Hubski-ers(?) :)
Hi, nice to meet you! Bouldering is rock climbing, but closer to the ground and without ropes/harnesses. You can do it inside on artificial walls with changeable routes or "problems", or outside on actual boulders. I don't have very many outside spots available near me, so it's easier to just go to a gym. The Parks Authority in my state also has three free bouldering walls set up underneath a section of highway by the river. It's quite nice to head over there and muck around without needing to pay admission! Completely agree about the relaxing side of things. It's very meditative. Just me and the wall! And as far as being rubbish at it... in the immortal words of Jake the Dog "Suckin' at something is the first step towards being sorta good at something".
Oh man. Too much for one comment! For listening I like a little bit of everything :) Right now I'm hanging out for Father of the Bride from Vampire Weekend. Also really enjoying: bad snacks, Josh Ritter when I'm feeling a hankering for some Americana (latest album was produced with Jason Isbell and it's awesome), and I'm a little bit obsessed with Rachmaninoff at the moment. As far as playing goes, I'm trying to relearn piano and impulsively bought a keyboard a couple of months ago. I think it can be used as a midi controller too, so I'm going to start composing again hopefully. I was visiting family for Easter and my mum and I had a fun time playing/singing along with The Bends by radiohead.
