tacocat, this is my new favorite Vic Berger piece. Hadn't seen it 'til now.
But more importantly, the ratio of only 10-ish likes to every dislike made me scroll into the comments, where one of the top commenters expresses their disdain that it wasn't explicitly announced that this video was edited to "make it look like [Bob Dylan] never spoke".
Ok. Ok, if you can't tell that this video was edited, then you're about to get absolutely destroyed by deepfakes. Taken to town.
Why aren't we seeing many deepfakes (example*) right now? Because the communities of people out there perfecting deepfake tech are playing a game of cat and mouse with intelligence branches around the globe. If methods of faking and faking detection are not continuously exchanged, each side hopes to blitz the other, but some nefarious fakers will probably strike within a predictable window of time; The technology could play a deciding role in the next U.S. presidential election.
Train yoself
*Sorry if you've seen it. Also buzzfeed ewww
Oh yeah, it’s just editing, no deep learning. But the people fooled by something this simple are in for a terrible ride, and there’s enough of them that something can go viral and do real damage before the authenticity is widely disputed. P.S. happy turkey day bruh
Until a few days ago, I didn't know Vic Berger had his own channel, I thought he was on some exclusive youtube contract (now there's a stupid phrase) with Super Deluxe
