The CDC reported that 32 people in 11 states have become sick from eating contaminated romaine. Of those, 13 have been hospitalized, with one patient suffering from a form of kidney failure. The Public Health Agency of Canada has reported that 18 people have been infected with the same strain of E. coli. in Ontario and Quebec.
Romaine lettuce could be contaminated and should be thrown away, CDC advises.
No deaths have been reported
The FDA and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said they had narrowed down the suspect lettuce to lettuce harvested in northern and central California. They still don’t have enough information to name a specific grower or distributor, but said consumers can begin to look for the popular lettuce again. I usually look at the label of where the products come from, so I guess as long as my lettuce doesn't come from California, I'm all good. Or consume other green salads instead. :D
Me too, but after getting my annual medical tests, my GP said to eat it less often because of the kidney sediment it may cause; same thing with tomatoes.
