We all have subjective chatter in our head that narrates the world around us and the imaginary world inside of our head. I call these “stories” since they typically have a plot, perhaps a convoluted one, and a theme. We all have our life stories and even our tribal stories that define who we are. We even have ego-based stories like “I am usually (almost always) right”. That’s one I can buy into by the way.
Where do the stories come from?
Well, we are given the story from someone else 0r we create the story. Our parents, our church, our teachers, our friends have handed us stories. Some stories come in a nice tidy package, such as religious books, that have been shared for centuries. Their longevity seems to add weight to such stories and we many may never even question them. For example, if you are raised a Muslim, the idea that the Koran is a story, albeit an old story, is probably not very comfortable. You probably want it to be considered a sacred story and exempt from the truth that most stories are inaccurate and all stories are incomplete.... link to title to see more ...
