Does anyone on hubski besides me even like football?

I'm a New York Giants fan. I hope our season this year does not turn into an early disaster. With the improvements we made on offense, hopefully it will be lot of fun to watch. The schedule will be tough.
As a legal resident of the state of Washington I am constitutionally compelled to own at least three items of 12th Man paraphernalia. That said, they played some ugly fuckin' ball last season, this whole kneeling thing is fuckin' appalling, Kaepernick still needs a job and it's getting harder to support a sport that conclusively causes chronic traumatic encephalopathy.
I love college football, and it makes me feel shame. I haven't yet figured out a way to stop caring, however. Michigan State football obsession has been a family ritual since long before I was born. The Detroit Lions, on the other hand, are very very easy to boycott.
I live in SEC country so I have to have a few different ways to talk about college football. Fuck Alabama/Tennessee, who's looking good, bowls/the playoff are stupid and, yes,the players should be compensated. The last one is the hardest discussion to have and even people who tend to agree and can have an intelligent conversation about the subject tend to glaze over in cognitive dissonance when points are made about the majority of student athletes who ruin their bodies for a scholarship or the fucked up way schools recruit and sign players. I'll watch about any game so I must have some of that dissonance but I feel morally superior to people in denial about the problematic aspects of the game
Lol. I feel like you've captured every thinking football fan's feelings perfectly. I'm trying to invent a TBI drug for christ sake, and I still can't look away.I'll watch about any game so I must have some of that dissonance but I feel morally superior to people in denial about the problematic aspects of the game
I think it’s fun to gather with friends and drink beer, particularly in the fall in Michigan and if possible, outside. To this end, football is a great enabler. Beyond that I care less and less with each passing year about all professional sports. I have a hard time spending so much time on something I have zero input in to.
