The rumors had been flying for awhile, and now they're confirmed. With Kennedy's retirement, the last moderating voice on the conservatives is gone.
The majority of Roberts, Alito, Thomas, Gorsuch, and X will be able to do a lot of damage, and doubtless reshape our country for the worse for decades. The Court has shown a surprising willingness to embrace racism in our laws, hiding behind a standard requiring, in essence, outright statements of racial intent. Justice William Brennan once referred to the fear of "too much justice" (in dissenting from a case holding that clear statistical evidence of racial bias in death penalty sentencing was insufficient, requiring specific proof of racism in each individual case). This trend continues in gerrymandering, voting rights, and civil rights (with some exceptions).
Our country is going to be a very different place in a few years, and I doubt I for one am going to like it. The conservative wing's hypocritical approach to legal reasoning will now be given free reign.
SCOTUS 2018: Justice Delayed. About sums up this and the week's rulings _______ Also Mitch McConnell is a piece of shit
I've been more thinking something likeCongress shall make no law...because the courts will do it for them.
