Looks like #pubski is where we update the hubski folk (hubskiites? hubskians? hubskiers?) on what we've been up to, so I'll give it a shot. I'm training for the Charlevoix Marathon (June 23rd) and this past weekend got in a solid 14-mile run in 2hr 9min (9:18 pace) on a blistering hot afternoon. Hoping to get in a 20-mile run this weekend. If anybody has advice for race day please advise, this will be my first marathon. Exciting things are happening at my job and I'm continuing to crush it. I'm hype to continue to learn and overcome the upcoming challenges as they arise. Oh, and also went on the first date I've had in awhile and have another lined up for tomorrow. Life is pretty good. If I could do an emoji I would do the beer glasses doing a cheers right here.

Also, turns out to be a pretty boring NBA finals. I think the Cavs may win one but would not be surprised if the Warriors sweep the series. Let's hope Lebron can prove me wrong.

No advice, but I'm right there with you with the first marathon thing. My first is in a couple of weeks (June 10th)! Already got in the 20-miler, etc., and am now tapering...kind of...going backpacking this weekend and considering that the last of my major "running" until the race.

Best of luck to you, and I can't wait to hear about it! There's a little used tag, #racereport where you can read up on what some of us such as WanderingEng and Creativity have been up to. But probably the most intriguing are the various endeavors of wasoxygen.

I'll be interested how you feel about a backpacking trip during your taper. My next marathon is October 7, and September is amazing hiking weather. I want to get into the White Mountains in Vermont, and there's one Adirondack hike I want to do in good weather ahead of attempting it in winter.

No advice either, just admiring your courage and strength to run a marathon. If you can run 14 miles, you can run 20: at that point, it's just a little more time.

Keep rocking, and best of luck.

I've only done one full marathon, so I'm not sure I have any great advice. You've done the training, and trust yourself and your body. You can definitely do this.

My race day routine is to have an energy bar, a bottle of Gatorade, and a cup of coffee in the morning. I like to get to the start area early, like 45 minutes before so I can use a portapotty. I don't like to feel rushed. I won't say that's ideal for everyone, but it's what I do.

I have never done a full marathon. I have done several 10 mile races and a half marathon. I think the bathroom is the most under-discussed component of any long distance run. It's pretty important to get in a good poop prior to the run starting. If you have a 8am race time and you normally crap at 9am every day. I think it would be smart to begin waking up at 6am and trying to retrain your body to go to the bathroom at 7am. No joke.

Nothing is worse than having to crap mid run :)

I'm in the worst running shape ever. I applaud all of you.

Go get it, SeanBot!

I totally agree! That's where the coffee seems to help me. I get up pretty early to poop, eat, drink, and poop before leaving home. Then I pee at the race start as my hydration works its way through. I've never needed to poop during a race but have during training runs, and it sucks looking for a restroom.
