Huh, I had no idea. Good to know how it's happening, at least!
There has been a fair amount of rage at the anonymity of community tags in the past. I'm sure a better man than I could dig up the threads. I'm sure that community tags and anonymity will someday once again become a matter of debate. I posted #posturtaghere, not to be a dick or anything but if there ever was a post that needed a demonstration of the community tag function this was probably it.
I can understand why...I'm not sure why I never noticed before (maybe it just wasn't happening that much lately), and I definitely think it's a bad idea. (And I agree with your conclusion as to a community tag on this one....)
I like that community tags exist. A poster may not know about a commonly used tag in a subject, or the comments go in an unexpected direction and the community tags can lead others to the thread who would overlook it based on the original title and tags. It would be nice if they weren't anonymous. Everyone should filter or block each other like civilized assholes instead of making tags like that. Does anyone remember how community tags work? If multiple are added, does the tag with the most suggestions get posted? I added #communitytags.
In my (very) limited usage of those: You get to set the community tag or change the existing one once. One user gets one set/change, after which they're no longer allowed to affect the community tag on the post. The change is permanent and overwrites the existing community tag.Does anyone remember how community tags work?
