I was lucky enough to see the Talking Heads a couple of times many years ago but their music alone never really stuck with me. I just realized it is because that's because it was never designed that way... the visuals are an essential part of their performance. Which makes sense when you know they originated out of the Rhode Island School of Design. And they even have a hype man.
I drove around with mk the other day and talked about how John Melloncamp has as many hits as Bruce Springsteen and how both are in to the whole "Americana, everyman" type of songs but Bruce is way more heralded. I personally prefer Bruce's music but do you think Mellonkamp is underrated regarding his contribution to pop/americana? Lot's of hits there. Truth is, I'm not a huge fan of either but I definitely prefer Bruce. I've been told his live shows are pretty amazing. Maybe this is a comparison not worth making, I dunno. Anyways, I listened to both their music a lot lately.
my favorite musician in all of Kansas City
I'm not sure how the last sounds so fresh, after so many years.
RVIVR is punk rock with some great melodies between the two guitarists and the rest of the band that I've got nostalgic feelings for. Joyner Lucas is doing a great job embarrassing mumble rappers on their own songs and also has an album that's got a lot of more personal sensitive content on it that is presented well. Pat the Bunny stays with good lyrics and just music I gravitate back to every couple months.
