I've been listening to a lot, but always happy to discover some more!
I'll start, in no particular order:
Hello Internet - What got me into podcasting actually. Just love their conversations for some reason.
Heavyweight - Probably my favourite podcast ever. It's a shame there are so few episodes! But I bet they just take super long to produce.
Beautiful Anonymous - My weekly listen. It's just a dude interviewing regular people for an hour. Sometimes it's funny, sometimes heartbreaking. Love all the personalities and different kind of people that call in.
Dear Hank and John - A dubious advice podcast. It's pretty funny, but that last part with news about Mars and AFC Wimbeldon I could not give less shits about. I just skip it.
Also, WTF by Marc Marron has been growing on me, but I don't know many people he interviews so it's a bit of a bummer sometimes.
Any good comedy podcasts? I feel a lot of comedians have one, but it's often pretty underwhelming. Tried Comedy Bang Bang, the one by Jeff Jeffries and Hanibal Buress and none of them stuck.
Also, shoutout the the Hubski podcasts, it's been a while!
Some that I've liked but I don't see many recommendations for - mainly because my taste doesn't coincide with yours *. - Lexicon Valley the Famous linguist, John McWhorter's podcast. direct feed because the player on Slate's website is fucking flash. - All killa no filla - two (English) northerners talk about a different serial killer each episode. No sensationalism, just presenting their research and ideas on their topic of interest. If you've ever hung out with northern English women in a pub - it's just like that only they're talking about serial killers. Be warned the sound quality is utter shite. - Richard Herring's Leicester Square Theatre Podcast ... (RHLSTP) - he's not afraid to ask the difficult questions - like would you rather have a hand made out of ham or an armpit that dispenses sun cream? At the very least, you should support him for his tireless efforts on twitter during International Women's day. - BBC's Soul Music I love listening to people tell you why they love particular music - especially if you're not into it. But sometimes you are. * For many popular values of you. [EDIT]: 19 billion formatting edits.
EconTalk can be wonky but often has interesting guests. You (and goobster and BLOB_CASTLE) might enjoy the interview with Marian Goodell, CEO of the Burning Man Project. She describes the history, how they price tickets, how they catch crashers, how attendees get water and what happens to the waste, and how sales are discouraged.
Joe Rogan Experience. My Brother, My Brother and Me. The Adventure Zone. I used to like Stuff You Should Know but they kind of lost steam in the last few years. Hardcore History by Dan Carlin History on Fire by Danielli Bolelli The Jordan B. Peterson Podcast, though it's kind of hit or miss. Verbal Violence
I liked the Butterfly Effect because I think Jon Ronson is awesome. I listen to the standard NPR lot: This American Life, Radiolab, the Moth. Because I am an insufferable liberal. Since I listen to TAL I listened to S-Town and the first season of Serial and enjoyed them quite a bit. And I'm listening to Atlanta Monster but the novelty is wearing off since I'm not convinced the guy they arrested isn't guilty. It's getting into some tinfoil hat territory. But I live in Atlanta so what the fuck ever
Came here to say Hello Internet, but it's right there in your post. It also got me into podcasts, and it's the only one I listen to regularly. Other than that, I enjoyed for example FLOSS weekly.
