Watching the robot recognize and blast a four by four block out of the ring in testing makes me wonder who has been the first fool to step into the ring and have his foot attacked. Or, worse, a guy that then falls down into the ring only have the robot go berserk trying to knock him out. Ouch.
I think that explains the referee's leg protections.

I'm planning to go to Japan in October, so naturally I tried looking up when I could attend one of these events. Apparently it's really big in eastern Europe. There's also apparently Robot American Football.
So long as it stays in the ring...Alternate rules: Some contests allow for up to 5 grams to fall off the robot and be swept out (if unattached) without the robot losing. Some contests end the round immediately if more than 5 grams detaches from a robot, with that robot losing.
