I don't really know how to do this, so I'm just going to ramble a bit.
About a year and a half ago I married a relatively religious woman. I don't share the same level of faith but it is a big part of her life, so we set out in search of a church that would resonate with both of us. And, after kissing a bunch of toads, we found Farm Church.
Every Sunday, Farm Church meets at Seeds in Durham NC to prepare soil, plow beds, plant seeds, weed gardens, pick produce, and drop off fresh goods at food banks. That's the part I like. Afterwards there's a sermon and sometimes a potluck were we talk about justice and food insecurity. That's the part my wife likes.
It's a young church with no real affiliation to a larger organization, so when our pastor was diagnosed with cancer we were thrown into a bit of a tizzy. Not only do we need to continue our long march towards our goal of a paid staff, but now we need to raise enough money to cover health care and some kind of life insurance for his wife and three kids.
It's a tough situation, for all the obvious reasons, but also because our congregation (who are all young and looking for a traditional alternative) doesn't really know how to raise money or what a church's relationship to income should be.
But I do know that I like our mission, and I like the people who are pursuing it. And so I guess I'm asking for donations. I'm not sure this is the right place to do it or how it'll land, but the semi-anonymity of hubski has emboldened me to try.

So yeah, thanks to those who have read this far and let me know if I can answer any questions.
