Totally agree, though I must say the "Treat your Story like a TV Show, Book, or a Movie" works really well in pulp rpgs like Spirit of the Century. Of course that's because you're not trying to emulate real life but a story in a Indiana Jones-esque world. My friend who is in engineering made a story where Nicola Tesla was going to launch a large mirror into space to make the sun's light reach all around the world. It was very fun and campy, a nice break from our DnD sessions. Not that we didn't have fun in DnD, sometimes to the chagrin of our DM, but it was different. Also, in a similar vain, I hate seeing games like Star Wars: The Old Republic where a slash from a lightsaber is easily ignored. Just rubs me the wrong way.
