- Hollowed out by graft and incompetence, the Nigerian state no longer has a monopoly of violence. It can no longer project its will across the length and breadth of the nation. Violence has been privatized by a host of non-state actors many of which are anti-establishment in character and anarchic in orientation.
Found this quite interesting and thought I would share. Certainly it seems to be a good assessment of the kind of slow-moving crisis which is not generally captured by the big media outlets.
