She was told it was a Thebes Point Knife. Doing a bit of looking, it seems that was used by the Archaic people, which were centered in Ohio 8000 to 500 B.C.

She also had an arrowhead found on their property. It was much smaller, and pointier, however.

Insane to see 'tech' from then that's so old be so recent in it's iterations.

Hell, the tool culture even further back (to our eyes) was shaping out similarly.

Nice she was able to pick it out. I remember camping at an old site in TX and we were lucky enough to spot some. Always boggles my mind that another human - perhaps ancestor - was the one to shape the same stones we're holding thousands of years later.

I would love to find one someday. I have always been one to look at the ground, but have yet to find anything like this. If I were them, I wouldn't be able to resist the urge to excavate the backyard.

No doubt.

I suppose this is how it looked fastened:

Good luck on finding one. One day, I'm sure, if you go camping on a reserve, you'll have a better chance.

That model looks much nicer than I imagined, just wrapping it on top of the wood. Cutting a notch in the wood makes a more sense. . .
