Sounds like I should move to NYC! Hell yeah! But I’ve realized this summer my English accent is not that great. The first question people usually ask me is where I’m from. My French upbringing and Russian roots betray me fast.
It said I was from Buffalo or Michigan, when I grew up outside of Toronto. Pretty close. Your slight accent is completely fine and really does need any work unless you want to be heard as having an English mother tongue. Which I guess is the goal when learning any foreign language but isn't anything you should worry too much about. A friend has spoken English and Polish his whole life and began learning English after moving to Montreal when he was about 4 and has a "heavier" accent then you. But then again he likes being identified as Quebecois. The first video I watched I knew you were from Montreal but with a twist I could not figure out.
Yeah, it doesn't bother me too much honestly - I think I have pretty good english for Quebec :) But then again, I'm not that close to Quebecois culture. It's just a little bit of a bummer that my older sister has basically no accent, and she moved to Canada at 2 while I was born here. I think it's mostly a sibling rivalry thing haha.
