Turn off Bluetooth.
Just, do it.
Then read this:
- "... they were able to carry out other attacks. The most significant one allows hackers to intercept all network traffic sent to and from the targeted Windows computer and to modify that data at will. That means attackers could use Blueborne to bypass personal and corporate firewalls and exfiltrate sensitive data and possibly modify or otherwise tamper with it while it's in transit. The Android implementation is vulnerable to the same attack."
Yikes.
So Windows and iOS already have patches out for this? Maybe my reading comprehension is poor but it sounds like it's safe to enable bluetooth for those patched devices.Armis disclosed the vulnerability to major vendors prior to the disclosure; fully patched Windows systems and Ios devices are protected, and an Android update is being pushed today for Google phones.
THIS particular vulnerability has been patched... after being around for four years or more. But this won't be the last Bluetooth vulnerability discovered. It's shitty technology, poorly implemented, and now used in everything from refrigerators to cars. This is just - yet another - warning about relying on Bluetooth.
https://www.linux.org/threads/usn-3413-1-bluez-vulnerability.13447/ Is that what this is about? I saw the update in my update manager literally just after I saw you post this, goobster. Edit: Also, stuff like this is why I tend to have Bluetooth turned off on default unless I'm actively using it. This isn't the first time I've heard about stuff like this.
