That's a fun question. I think I'm going to sample a few different areas. In the northeast US there are the Catskills in southern New York, the Green Mountains in Vermont, the White Mountains in New Hampshire, and some mountains in Maine. Combined, all the tallest mountains in these areas are the Northeast 111. Maybe I try the Whites and love them.

But I also want to try some other regions. The Angeles National Forest has some eight to ten thousand foot summits. Everything in the Cascades looks amazing. There are some guided hikes up peaks like Mount Baker that could be awesome. They have some glacier traversing that I've never done.

The one thing I can't wrap my head around is through hiking. It's just the logistics. I like my one to four day hikes where I have a shower, burger, and beer at the end, then I fly home and resume normal life. So while I'll keep plugging away at the Ice Age Trail locally, I don't see the Appalachian Trail in my future.

Another idea is to do some destination runs. I'm currently loving half marathons, so maybe I'd enjoy going somewhere new for a run.
