It must use visual processing. A live feed of the telemetry used by not Space-X (i.e. Astronomy Live) would have too much latency to guarantee good tracking, I think, and that's before any other tracking software you'd need to apply after getting the stream of telemetry.

Yea his videos of those asteroids he tracked through closest approach are amazing. Sadly the software he is writing will only work on the LX200 series of telescopes.
