I'll be camped at The Dump in Center Camp.
From a previous thread I see that the following folks are Burners:
Yeah, I may not go back to the desert (the "Gerlach Regional") again, at this point. I was there on the beach when it started. I was there in the desert when that started. I was there when the first ticket sellout happened. I camped alone. I camped with a theme camp. I ran my own theme camp. I worked for a Service Camp. I was employed by Burning Man. I have given more people their Burner Name than I can even remember. I have brought my own art to the playa. I have participated with a large scale art project. (I'm the one in the middle.) I have gotten heatstroke and spent a day in the Med Tent. I have been the officiant at two different weddings at Burning Man. So, I think I may have gotten all the merit badges at this point. I do have a rogue idea that I have seeded with a couple of friends and camps, that might just culture-jack Burning Man one last time. But it ain't gonna happen this year. Maybe 2018. Going to Europe this year, instead. (BTW - Be sure to volunteer for a shift at Arctica! It is the best gig on the playa. SO much fun, and a cool/chilly place to be during the middle of the hot days. Tell them Bucky sent you.)
Goobs, will you join me at my first burning man in two years? I have been to 4 Midburns and did DPW and translation team in all 4 but couldn't make it to the big one yet! In two years my thesis will be done. Then I will have time :) Next year I am doing Borderlands with a small art project. Where in Europe will you be?
Two years is a long time, so ... who knows? :) For Europe, I'm kinda towing my wife around and showing her all the cool shit I like. She's nervous about traveling due to weird dietary constraints, but once she gets there, I know she's gonna love it. So we are spending the majority of our time in the UK. London > Stonehenge > Devon > Bath > Cardiff > Liverpool > Isle of Man > Islay > Edinburgh > Fountains Abbey > York... that's sort of the "loop" we are looking at right now. Then, maybe grabbing a flight from Leeds to Budapest, spend a weekend with friends, and then fly back to London for several days before we head home again. It's not that adventurous, but I think we need to set a reasonable pace and level of comfort for my wife. Once she has that experience, I expect she'll be more willing to travel beyond the English-speaking countries. :-)
Arctica is just the best volunteering experience on the playa! I love it. You can also drop in and volunteer any time you want to. They have the Shift Book, and can tell you where the gaps are in the schedule. It's especially fun if you bring some of your campmates along, and do it together as a group. Black Rock Animal Control and Thunderdome both do this, and it is a BLAST, both for the volunteers and the people in line buying ice. Anyway, tell them Buckstar Deluxe says hi.
Well alright then :) I'll totally volunteer, it's just on the other side of Center Camp from me!
I'll be at The Dump right next to PlayaInfo. Is Timmy on Hubski?
I won't be going this year. long story short, my mother lost her battle with Angio Sarcoma in February. my heart and pockets are not ready for the burn. however, our camp will be there and I'm terrified they'll ruin the build without me. Lol.
I'm sorry to hear of your loss, may peace find you. The POC camp yeah? What's the address?
Woooooo!!!!!! I'll be at The Dump in Center Camp. We'll have a piano drums and amps. Last year we had a massive shade structure. I think it'll happen again this year but in the camp FB page there's been discussion of something different I think. Do you have a camp? If not I could see about getting in with us
I do have a camp - we're like 12ish people (out of which I know 4) splitting on food, stoves, shade structures to cut down on organization and cost. We don't have any kind of project, it's more about pooling ressources so we can all slip off and explore/volunteer/contribute separately. Not sure where exactly we'll be - but somewhere in the tent area. Since we're all flying in from East Coast Canada, not much space for anything more than essentials. I'll come find you! (do you have a playa name so I can ask around?)
Yeah... blob (holding the umbrella) Do you have a playa name?
