I haven't paid much attention to Trump since I got off of Reddit (boy, is he a polarizing figure on there). I've paid even less attention since I got rid of my smart phone, just because I'm paying a lot less attention to the news in general. I don't have many thoughts worth sharing, one way or another, just that some of the questions being asked and some of the answers being offered strike me as kind of surreal.
I should quit my job and run for President.
I would totally vote for James Comey. It's amazing watching adults talk to each other as if they are competent in their jobs, and their jobs are, like, government. I do love the phrase "there's no fuzz on this." It's as if peaches are the ultimate liars of the universe.
I reckon you mean this: This changed my mind. In classified sessions with members of Congress several months ago, Comey described those emails in the Russian claim and expressed his concern that this Russian information could "drop" and that would undermine the Clinton investigation and the Justice Department in general, according to one government official. Still, Comey did not let on to lawmakers that there were doubts about the veracity of the intelligence, according to sources familiar with the briefings. It is unclear why Comey was not more forthcoming in a classified setting. I consider it likely that the FBI is currently on a mole hunt within Congress and that they uncovered a disinformation campaign designed to destroy the credibility of the Justice Department. Rather than stir up a bunch of russian shit that could scuttle an active investigation, Comey chose to end the investigation publicly and loudly so that the Russian gambit couldn't be played. I also consider it likely that Comey considers there are leaks within the House and/or Senate intelligence committee that limits the FBI's disclosures. Long story short, I'm operating on the assumption that Comey found some Killian documents, knew it, and knew that there was no good way to diffuse them without revealing to the Russians what sources they had available. I do think that personally, Comey wouldn't piss on Clinton if she were on fire... but it also appears that he prides himself on executing the office. The revelation of the Wasserman Shultz email gambit indicates that the FBI is busy dealing with some dire counterintelligence BS and they're doing what they can.The Russian intelligence at issue purported to show that then-Attorney General Lynch had been compromised in the Clinton investigation. The intelligence described emails between then-Democratic National Committee Chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz and a political operative suggesting that Lynch would make the FBI investigation of Clinton go away.
personally I think the DNC doing everything they could to shove Clinton down the left of america's throats as opposed to even entertaining the possibility of Sanders (or anyone else for that matter) is the real problem, even though they knew she had a ton of baggage with the public. They lied to themselves about her electability, sold her as new even though she was same-old same-old, then were suddenly surprised when they lost.
My sentiment on that has moderated. I get the sense that he saw the rabbit hole, knew we were going to fall into it, and did what he could to make the fall as orderly as possible. But I imagine this is going to be something we'll debate for decades to come.
If you close your eyes and bite down on a towel real hard, you can fool yourself into thinking that Eric Prydz's "Call On Me" chorus is actually "Cooomeyyyy! Co, Mey!".
I think that's originally a Steve Winwood song, right? You could also put "Comey" in this Blondie song: Also, young Debbie Harry is still the hottest thing ever.
How 'bout that? I knew it was a sample, hadn't looked it up. If I looked up every song on my favorite playlist that used samples, that'd be at least half of them, and I'm pretty busy, I guess. Thank ya for that one, though. [warning: NSFW] Now, the video for Prydz's EDM rehash (HAHAhahah) My main point: Isn't Comey so MAGA right now?I think that's originally a Steve Winwood song, right?
Was watching the hearing yesterday... by accident. Was browsing Reddit. Saw the hearing megathread. Launched Steam to play some Dota 2. Saw /u/washingtonpost talk about their live coverage. Saw the autoplay live stream from the hearing. ...saw myself two hours later, game still not played, witnessing history in the making. This must be what Watergate felt like at the time.
Subject: HYPOCRITES ...So why has the Fake News Media spent so much time reporting on the so-called “Russia investigation?” Democrats are nothing but a bunch of hypocrites inciting a WITCH HUNT to take down President Trump… And for one simple reason: He wants to put America FIRST. Putting America First means special interests no longer get to sell out our country for their own personal gain. It means we no longer enter multinational agreements that surrender our sovereignty. It means we no longer funnel billions of American dollars to countries that hate us. It means we no longer let just anyone pour over our border. Our winning movement ended an era of selling out American interests -- and the corrupt political class is FURIOUS. The witch hunt won’t be over today. It won’t be over tomorrow. We MUST keep fighting. Our country is at stake. I might have to print that one out, too. It's White Rabbit-errific.James Comey stated under oath that President Trump was NOT under investigation by the FBI.
I saw someone on Reddit cite a caller on CNN as saying "It isn't a witch hunt: it's a grand wizard hunt". Seems rather appropriate. Hm. I wonder fucking why... So. How are we going to title this chapter in American history? "How to divide the nation through hatred and nonsense"?Democrats are nothing but a bunch of hypocrites inciting a WITCH HUNT to take down President Trump…
It means we no longer funnel billions of American dollars to countries that hate us.
There's no need for such pessimism. I know you've invested yourself and your resources quite a bit in the election. The fact that your investment didn't pay off as much as you - and many like you - hoped doesn't mean that the end is nigh. America is clearly holding its own, both on governmental and citizen level, against this outside-inside assault. Just look at the people refusing to do the crazy president's bidding! It's astonishing just how organized in their discontent have come to be and how collected in their outpour of action. Separate persons and entire states are saying "No" to the narcissist-in-chief, and there seems to be no stopping to that. I don't think the end of the US is anywhere near. This is definitely going to leave a scar, but scars remind us never to make the same mistake again. You guys surely will make it happen out there - and if you aren't impressed that a Russian is telling you that, I don't know how you ever will be.
As long as she cuts the crap. I haven't been following Obama much back when he was in office, but in retrospect, he seems like a more sincere kinda guy than you would expect from a politician in the US. Then came Trump - the man who "said it like it is", even if a) "it" is bullshit b) he doesn't believe in. The scene has been won with the audacity for bad. I'm looking forward to seeing a presidential candidate with the audacity for good. It would be difficult to shed decades of conditioning, though.
This is such an odd statement... In part because I can't find the right word the describe the way you present stuff. It was never specifically positive or negative, in recent memory; it has been both, at times. It is blunt and it is assertive, but something... is missing.I'm probably one of the more positive Americans on here.
