It's now back to regular life, after a long training weekend. It was the anniversary of my grand-teacher starting to teach in the mid-'80s, and so we got a whole bunch of people together to train and beat upon one another for the weekend. Turnout was great this year, easily 60 people or more.
I think I trained a total of about 19 hours over the three days. There's something about doing it over such a short period of time that it really gets under your skin. I'm hoping to do some more traveling this year to other events, but it'll depend on a combination of cash money, how much leave I have from work, and how long my wife is cool with soloing our daughter.
I also took possession of my jong. I have a space for it, although I need to get Goodwill to come pick up some stuff before I can really start using the room easily. Then I need to find someone who's actually handy to help me get the thing set up. But I'm excited about being able to play with it on my off days!
In the meantime, I'm spending the next couple days catching up on all the bills and other odds-and-ends that I neglected during the week. We're also going to see Guardians of the Galaxy with my brother and his girlfriend tomorrow, which I'm definitely looking forward to. We're going to one of those theaters that will serve you booze and food actually in the place. Plus they don't let anyone under 21 in, so those kids can stay off my lawn. The added bonus is that I've been able to avoid thinking about current goings-on.
